چکیده
Phytoremediation is a viable strategy to remove trace metal contaminants from sewage sludge but still poorly investigated. The aim of this study was quantify the removal B. napus, juncea, H. annuus, Z. mays grown on pure sludge. Each species six different for 8 weeks and were analysed content physico-chemical characteristics. Our results confirmed that all tested supported plant growth. showed vigorousness lower (46% sludge) or similar/increased (54% compared control treatment. juncea napus most efficient in bioaccumulation, metals. average percentage metals removed by selected 0.2% As, 0.85% Cd, 0.09% Cr, 0.36% Cu, Ni, 4.2% Se, 1.2% Zn. In conclusion, our phytoremediation can be applied sludge, despite chosen have low efficiency element removal. Further studies using hyperaccumulator are needed which may lead higher process opening up new possibilities management strategies waste.

Heavy Metal Accumulation in Wild Plants: Implications for Phytoremediation
This work addresses the issue of Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Ni and Cr accumulation in wildgrown plants in the context of their possible use for the sanitation of sludge and waste substrates. The highest contents of heavy metals were noted in Lactuca serriola, Chenopodium album, Artemisia vulgaris and Atriplex nitens. Assuming maximum crop production which is to be obtained from sludge and waste substrates...
متن کاملEffects of Sewage Sludge and Chemical Fertilizers on Pb and Cd Accumulation in Fenugreek (Trigonella gracum)
Background: Reprocessing of sewage sludge to agricultural land is preferred to disposal through landfill or incineration due to its potentially beneficial effects on soil fertility from organic matter and plant nutrients, such as N and P, present in the sludge. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the impact of sewage sludge and chemical fertilizers on Pb and Cd accumulation in ...
متن کاملCompost, Manure and Sewage Sludge Applied to a Crop Rotation
The disposal of organic wastes specially from urban origin is a very serious problem. The recycling through agriculture is certainly one of the best solutions but it means a thorough control of the composition and doses applied, as well as the response of the crops, in production and quality. In this paper we deal with compost of solid urban residues, sewage sludge, and cow manure as a known re...
متن کاملPotential for Phytoremediation of PCDD/PCDF-Contaminated Sludge and Sediments Using Cucurbitaceae Plants: A Pilot Study
The current study evaluates the impact of sewage sludge and urban reservoir sediment on changes in total and Toxic Equivalency (TEQ) PCDD/PCDF concentration in soil and phytotoxicity measured using three test species: Lepidium sativum, Sinapis alba, and Sorghum saccharatum, during 5 weeks of Cucurbita pepo L. cv 'Atena Polka' (zucchini) cultivation. 'Atena Polka' was found to reduce total PCDD/...
متن کاملAccumulation of Trace Metals by Mangrove Plants in Indian Sundarban Wetland: Prospects for Phytoremediation.
The work investigates on the potential of ten mangrove species for absorption, accumulation and partitioning of trace metal(loid)s in individual plant tissues (leaves, bark and root/pneumatophore) at two study sites of Indian Sundarban Wetland. The metal(loid) concentration in host sediments and their geochemical characteristics were also considered. Mangrove sediments showed unique potential i...
